Automatic Classification of Regular vs. Irregular Phonation Types

چکیده
Irregular phonation (also called creaky voice, glottalization and laryngealization) may have various communicative functions in speech. Thus the automatic classification of phonation type into regular and irregular can have a number of applications in speech technology. In this paper, we propose such a classifier that extracts six acoustic cues from vowels and then labels them as regular or irregular by means of a support vector machine. We integrated cues from earlier phonation type classifiers and improved their performance in five out of the six cases. The classifier with the improved cue set produced a 98.85% hit rate and a 3.47% false alarm rate on a subset of the

Irregular phonation serves an important communicative function. It can be a cue to linguistic contrasts, and often serves as a marker for word and utterance boundaries. Automatic methods for classification and detection of regions of irregular phonation can be used to improve analyses of occurrences of irregular phonation and support technologies such as speech recognition and synthesis. This s...
متن کاملAutomatic transformation of irregular to regular voice by residual analysis and synthesis
This paper presents an automatic speech transformation method of non-ideal phonation of speech (irregular or creaky voice). The irregular-to-regular transformation is performed by analyzing and resynthesizing the residual. A recent continuous pitch estimation algorithm is used for interpolating F0 in regions of irregular voice. The linear prediction residual of irregular sections of speech is r...
متن کاملAutomatic detection of irregular phonation in continuous speech
Voice quality is one of the most important source characteristics of a speaker’s speech production process, and creakiness is one of the variations of voice quality. This paper describes the development of an algorithm to automatically detect irregular phonation, including creakiness and other variations, in continuous running speech. The algorithm is an extension of the Aperiodicity, Periodici...
متن کاملCreaky voice and the classification of affect
Creaky voice, a phonation type involving a low frequency and often highly irregular vocal fold vibration, has the potential both to indicate emotion and to confuse automatic processing algorithms, making it both friend and enemy to emotion recognition systems. This paper explores the effect of creak on affect classification performance using hidden Markov models (HMMs) trained on a variety of v...
متن کاملCERTAIN TYPES OF EDGE m-POLAR FUZZY GRAPHS
In this research paper, we present a novel frame work for handling $m$-polar information by combining the theory of $m-$polar fuzzy sets with graphs. We introduce certain types of edge regular $m-$polar fuzzy graphs and edge irregular $m-$polar fuzzy graphs. We describe some useful properties of edge regular, strongly edge irregular and strongly edge totally irregular $m-$polar fuzzy graphs. W...
